Blogging is a lot more than writing your thoughts on post and leaving it at that. There’s a lot of promoting you have to do in order to get noticed. You have to join directories, start networking, sign up for social bookmarking sites and most importantly you have start linking with other blogs because all of this matters to Technorati ranking… and in the long run. It also matters in your google ranking too. Technorati ranking basically measures the importance of a blog. More blogs that link to your site; more authority you have.
So I decided to join in on another link building project.
RT wrote an article on how to improve your Technorati rank at Untwisted Vortex. It’s an ongoing experiment to see how well my blog’s Technorati rank will improve by participating.”
I will keep you updated on the results.. The viralink hasn’t done much for me yet but it has only been couple of days. We’ll see what happens.
There’s a better way to promote that most people don’t really pay attention to. Write a really good article and then get just one popular blog to write about it. You’ll get more from that one blog than all the directories combined.
Don’t forget to ask for a stumble if you think the article is really good. It will result in a boost in traffic, which means more eyes on your blog.
RT is right at the end of the day. We can all get caught up in the favorites, the back links, the exchanges, the votes etc. and sometimes forget about the art of blogging itself. The old saying “Content is King” is still very relevant!
